An evening with Vienna Boy' Choir
(Oct 8, 7.30pm at Esplanade Concert Hall)

Last evening, I was listening to the Vienna Boys' Choir with my other 12 friends. This is my first time listening to a children's choir.

The concert opens with three very pleasant songs, namely
1. Danket dem Herrn SWV
2. Im Himmelreich ein Haus steht (There is a House in the Heavens)
3. Solo, from: Elijah, op.70

The concert continues with an operatic pastiche; a fast paced comic play with a blend of music from Mozart's operas and his requiem. The music, the singing, the acting and the costumes are all good. The only issue is that I don't understand German language! I fell asleep in the nice blend of soothing music... ;p

>>>>>>>>>>>> INTERMISSION <<<<<<<<<

The second half opens with very beautiful international folk songs. The performance displays their 'pure and clear' voices, a sound of freedom and joy!

This is the list of international folk songs
1. Amazing Grace
2. Santa Lucia
3. La Cucaracha (The Cockroach)
4. Der Floh
5. The Lion Sleeps Tonight
6. Mamma Mia
7. Yesterday
8. Leichtes Blut (Polka)
9. and others.....including a chinese song.

My favourite is still "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", it gives me a feeling of a young lion king and his kingdom ... :)

What is your favourite? Leave a comment below.

Overall rating for this concert is a 7.5/10. Worth the $70... (My seat number is BB 18)
